Lea Ceramiche, in occasion of Cersaie 2010 (Bologna, September 28 to October 2), will introduce two new series designed by Patrick Norguet which have been pre-launched at the Design Week (Milan, April 2010).
The
Lines and Waves collection
will be exploring a whole new concept of surfaces, enhancing the sensory aspect they offer. Using the latest-generation
Lea Slimtech laminated porcelain slabs
– just 3mm thick and the result of a revolutionary technique for compacting porcelain stoneware – Norguet offers his own personal take on the surface, with horizontal and vertical patterns creating original new architectural details. Known for his excellent knowledge of materials and cutting-edge production techniques, the French designer's work with Lea Ceramiche will be his first approach to ceramic material and to Lea FULL HD technology, which will give him the opportunity to explore new grounds and new applications. The result of this is a series of three-dimensional line effects, which in the Lines collection create an almost natural allure, shaping a virtual landscape that joins the earth up with the skyline; while the repetition of dots characteristic of the Waves collection creates an optical effect reminiscent of waves that affords depth and movement to the surface. Dots, marks and lines, endlessly repeated on the large 300x100cm slabs, create a surprisingly enchanting effect made up of shades and nuances that technological ruses are able to shape into what appears almost a natural landscape; delicate nuances and wood-like marks are accurately reproduced on the surface of these large slabs, which, in the installation conceived for the new showroom in Via Durini, are able to enhance a whole new concept of how to use ceramic wall coverings in architecture.

Lea Ceramiche is always very attentive to its customers’ training. The courses for the installation of laminated porcelain Slimtech and the visits to the production facility are just an example of the will of cultivating the relationship with the customers and sales points. Our Swiss customer HGC gave us a greatly appreciated gift: a cd with the pictures of all the moments – recreational and non – that their French salesman spent with our area managers. It’s so that we decided to launch on the flickr account of Lea Ceramiche a section “

Lea is opening its
blog
. Why? Because we want to keep in touch , converse and share with decision makers without the formality of ordinary communication. We really want to go deep into things, we want to do more than just take a quick glance at the situation. We want to discuss informally about the themes that we care about with irony and style; without taking it too seriously, but still respecting our values. Many ideas, projects, but mainly thoughts, smiles and emotions. In the end Lea is made of people working together with passion and creativity.. that’s why we think a blog is the best way to communicate. We are convinced that sharing is important, especially nowadays.
There is also the section “inspiration” that shows Lea’s world through the beautiful photos of the projects made with Lea Ceramiche’s tiles. It will also be possible to express a vote for every single photo.

Lea Ceramiche will be launching its new partnership with French designer
Patrick Norguet
during the 49th International Furniture Fair at Milan (14th – 19th April 2010).
He has designed a new collection that explores a new way of seeing surfaces and exalts their sense of touch. By using the latest generation of Slimtech slabs, laminated stoneware that is just 3mm thick, the result of a revolutionary technology for the lamination and compacting of porcelain stoneware, Norguet introduces his take on surfaces, creating horizontal and vertical patterns and new potential for architecture. They create three dimensional patterns of lines that almost look like they come from nature in “Line”, a virtual landscape that links the ground with the horizon. With “Naïve”, he stresses the idea of the warp and weft of fabrics and with “Pixel” the repetition of dotted elements lends the surface wavelike motion and depth at the same time. Dots, signs and lines, repeated infinitely on the 300x100cm large slabs, create a surprising effect of new colours and tones that recall the idea of a natural landscape through the use of technology.

For Milan Design Week, the Lea Ceramiche showroom at 3, via Durini 2010 will have a new display created by
Diego Grandi, the company’s art director and the man behind the architectural design of the new space, in collaboration with Patrick Norguet himself.
After “Scenario 01 _ On the Rocks”, where the company first put its wares on show for the people of Milan, a new installation has evolved from a concept by Diego Grandi focusing on the creation of a place for modern flaneurs to stop by, a new “Literary Café”, an unexpected place waiting to be discovered. In the enclosed courtyard, the key elements of the installation will be the iconic figures of two “huts” housing the “bookshop” and the “café”. Small ethereal buildings defining two enclosed spaces but blending in with the rest of the garden.
Fritz Hansen
chairs and
Louis Poulsen
lamps adapted for use out of doors give the space its focus and recreate an unusual domestic environment.

Inside the showroom, Patrick Norguet will create Scenario 02 with his personal interpretation of the idea of a Literary Café and with the new Lea Ceramiche collection of ceramic wall coverings

With its new collections exhibited at the 2009 edition of Cersaie, Lea Ceramiche proves that it is able to make the most of its know-how and cutting edge technology in the name of creativity, exploring the new expressive potential of ceramics through decorations.
This is precisely how Mauk, the new series of decorations of the Slimtech Basaltina Stone Project collection, has arisen out of Diego Grandi’s creativity. Moving from the peculiarities of the collection, whose texture evokes basaltina stone – an extraordinarily flexible, light and resistant material -, Diego Grandi has created a modular system that conveys a 3D effect both through its composition and laying. The original slab, proposed in the large 118.11’’x 39.37’’ format and only 0.12” thick, is broken into pieces and recomposed as an Escher puzzle which, through the visual effect of the repetition of the modules laid, gives a 3D appearance to the flat surface of the slab. A new frontier of decoration that, starting from a highly technological material in terms of realization and performances, looks back at the past, evoking the suggestions and precious qualities of old and refined parquet floors.
Reduced size modules (31.49’’, 35.43”, 39.37”) are proposed in three distinct, geometric shapes: the rhombus Cuadra, the triangle Esa and the trapezium Spina that, in a completely innovative way, abandon orthogonality and veer towards oblique cuts. Starting from the bidimensionality of geometric figures, Mauk moves on to convey a 3D effect through two possible solutions: either by matching different shapes and colours or, alternatively, by creating one single colour though with contrasting joints that convey a 3D effect in wide frame. Flexible decorations that guarantee utmost planning freedom.
Once again, Lea Ceramiche and Diego Grandi come together to experiment new possibilities. In the designer’s last collections, innovation had expressed itself through the materiality of surfaces, while it now finds its expression in the modular system with Mauk.

During the 2009 edition of Cersaie, Slimtech presents itself, once more, as the protagonist of another collection. Lea Ceramiche presents
Arenaria
, which combines, in aesthetic terms, the high technical qualities of Slimtech – resistance and lightness – with warm colours: avorio, sabbia, caramel and brown, in line with today’s furnishing trends. With Arenaria, which is ideal for the flooring and covering of both residential and public areas, technology serves the designer and the user who, without giving up the value of a resistant and easy-to-clean material, can obtain the aesthetic effect of natural materials, with a wide range of formats available for any kind of realization.

The project, trusted to Diego Grandi – author of some the collections that have represented the company most significantly over the last years – develops an innovative concept that will define the showroom as more than just a simple exposition area; the area will become a meeting place, thought to offer moments of discussion and experimentation. Close to the project manager, the architect, the final user and the whole city, the showroom of Lea Ceramiche will be an open window on a company that has always anticipated, through it stoneware products, an innovative way of defining ceramic tiles.
An important project for a prestigious brand. The Lea Ceramiche space, 150 sqm developed on two levels, will be positioned on number 3 in via Durini: the only ceramic brand in one of the areas of Milan most suited to host excellence in Italian interior design. The showroom will serve two well defined tasks: one of welcome, through installations, shows and events focusing on design and projects, capable of creating cultural debates not always linked to ceramics; as well as an operational function, that provides its visitors with all the necessary tools to know better Lea Ceramiche tiles and their applications.
“In such a historical moment, - says Emilio Mussini, President of Panariagroup – we want to show a strong signal of vitality of one of the main actors of the made in Italy for quality, that has always defined itself through its products, that are constantly developed with a high attention to design, technological capabilities and ecological impact; that Lea Ceramiche wants to meet the public, professional or not, to make them participate not only in the novelties linked to the company, but to a culture of building conception that explores new territories and languages”.
The first Lea Ceramiche showroom will therefore be a new a long awaited project that will present the company in a space that will be permanently situated in this prestigious location. The capacity to constantly change will be the way we will constantly attract international attention, in line with the capacity of astonishing and anticipating times that has always characterized Lea Ceramiche.

Lea Ceramiche will be supplying the materials for the construction of the plug-in house, designed by architect Pierluigi Molteni. This project will be presented during the Sana (Bologna, September 10-13 2009) and Expogreen (Bologna, September 11-13 2009) trade fairs.
Architect Molteni is one of the four architects selected by Ottagono magazine to make proposals for a concept of an environmentally friendly house for Sana in Bologna, the largest fair for eco-friendly lifestyle.
The plug-in house was designed as a group of elements that, like the components of a computer, connect to the system and are immediately recognized and integrated into it. Plug-in house is made of a main structure; that includes a garage, where the main networks (water, electricity etc.) of the house are controlled, on the roof there are photovoltaic and solar panels, under the flooring there are tanks that collect rain water from the garden roofs (this water will be used in the bathrooms and for the garden) as well as batteries to store energy.
Great attention is given to the eco-friendly theme. Apart from the materials and technologies used, the concept allows for constant renovation. Lea Ceramiche supplied products from its studies, masterplan, streets and new decors collections for the floor and wall covering of the house.

Lea Ceramiche between the 29th of September and the 3rd of October, will present for Cersaie 2009 an avant-garde stand in terms of style and products. In an approach that has now become a tradition, the stand will not be a simple layout, but an architectural structure that explores, the research and the way the company projects and reflects on, the materials and their uses. Lea Ceramiche will present itself to the most important Italian appointment for this sector, with the will to show and share the high flexibility of its products. This has been attained thanks to the technology developed in its continuous search for excellence in research and design.

The focus this year will be on Slimtech: the largest and finest ceramic tile available on the market today. This product which is only 3mm thick was presented during the Cersaie last year; this year the product will be presented in more detail. Slimtech is the fruit of a compaction technology, which has the capability of revolutionizing the traditional productive process, and offer this new collection. We are proud that after 5 years, Cersaie will be the ready to welcome slim technology as the new frontier in stoneware production.

An experience of 5 years in important projects and a investment in innovative technology, have made Panariagroup, the first group specialized in ceramic production in the world, to have a facility completely dedicated to this compaction technology for stoneware; with the capability to produce slabs with minimum thickness in formats that can reach 100x300cm.

The Slimtech collection is ideal for wall and floor covering, living spaces and traffic areas, ventilated facades, elevated floors, false ceilings, curved surfaces and table surfaces. The collection will be published on the prestigious directory that presents the best products of Italian design; this is a pre-selection phase for a more important recognition: “il compasso d’oro ADI”. Lea Ceramiche has been awarded the Casa Clima Partner status, having demonstrated its compliance with the full range of strict criteria imposed by Casa Clima, the only independent certification body in Italy able to boast over 20 years’ experience in energy efficiency certification for buildings. Less energy wasted means lower CO2 emissions, which in turn means a reduction in air pollution and all the problems it poses for our planet (a rise in the average temperature and the consequent climate changes which are clear for all to see). A cultural approach aimed at allowing people to live in houses that are not only more energy-efficient but are also extremely pleasant to live in, as well as environment-friendly. This is a concept that regards not only new buildings, but also the sustainable renovation of existing constructions, with the aim of making them comfortable and pleasant to live in, without damaging the environment or wasting resources. Energy efficiency regards both new and renovated buildings, and takes account of the following three factors:

the energy efficiency of the building envelope

the use of renewable energy sources

the reduction of the environmental impact through the use of natural materials.

The energy efficiency of the building envelope is measured and classified according to the fuel used to heat the building in a year:
• class ORO = energy required < 1 litre/m2/year;• class A < 3 litres/m2/year• class B < 5 litres/m2/year• class C < 7 litres/m2/year

The Casa Clima PIÙ classification (applicable to classes ORO, A and B) is awarded to buildings that use renewable sources of energy and are built exclusively using materials that are not damaging to health or to the environment. Lea Ceramiche tiles, which are made with an ISO 14001 and EMAS certified production cycle, can help buildings to achieve this target. The following uses can contribute to obtaining Casa Clima certification:

Floor and wall tile finishes. The use of synthetic materials such as PVC is not recommended, and Lea Ceramiche’s porcelain stoneware is safer (fire resistant), more hard-wearing and longer-lasting than wood.

Under-floor heating systems. Compared to wood, which is a poor conductor of heat, Lea Ceramiche porcelain stoneware offers excellent performance, because it allows the whole system to function effectively with a lower water temperature, thus saving energy throughout the system.

Coverings for ventilated walls. In these cases, the use of Lea Ceramiche porcelain stoneware is recommended, as a result of its design and of how easy it is to install; a suitable alternative is Slimtech, because of its large size and light weight. In comparison with stone or metal materials, what makes Lea products ideal is undoubtedly the greater resistance they offer to weather conditions, smog and chemical agents, as well as ageing, light and frost, which makes them last longer.

Lea Ceramiche will be one of the leading companies participating at Coverings, attended by more than 37,000 professionals coming from all over the world. Lea Ceramiche will take part in this American exhibition showing a large range of products from its latest collections, which demonstrate the company’s commitment to constant technological research and its ensuing stylistic and project results. Slimtech is the solution that completes Lea Ceramiche’s surface projects, proposing slabs of exceptional sizes (300 x100cm) which are also incredibly light thanks to their 3-mm-thickness. Slimtech is ideal for satisfying all the latest needs of modern projects, both for interiors and for the larger exterior surfaces of modern buildings. It is easy to install and, more than any other material, it resolves renewal problems, offering excellent aesthetic results. Slimtech is the result of a rolling and compression technology used for porcelain stoneware which totally modifies the traditional production process, obtaining a completely new product that is extremely resistant, easy to install and flexible. Storm will be another protagonist of the event: the result of the company’s extraordinary know how acquired and perfected over the years. Made in coloured-body glazed stoneware, Storm perfectly reproduces the Slate stone effect and conveys the same exciting intensity of the rarest natural stone, with a combination of programmed, never repetitive colours and designs. In fact, the application of the new Full HD technology allows for the stone veins to be transferred to this collection, faithfully reproducing their weft. Storm is extremely long-lasting and resistant; moreover, its technical characteristics have proved to be unrivalled as they enable it to stand the maximum physical-chemical stress of the most demanding uses. BSP_Basaltina Stone Project completes the high technical value reached. In this case, Lea Ceramiche has succeeded in reaching an efficacious synthesis: BSP_Basaltina Stone Project is a full-body porcelain stoneware which takes on various colours, according to the way it is worked. With the decorative and fascinating Makò and Bioessenze, style and elegance round off the exhibition. Makò faithfully reproduces the weave of the rarest fabrics, of linen, papyrus and cotton. Bioessenze evokes the feelings that wood awakens in you. Larch, teak and oak are the essences faithfully reproduced by the Full HD technology and they give out an exceptional natural effect which is highly suitable for every type of furnishing and living style.Lastly, Diego Grandi’s collection, City, which was granted the Good Design Award 2008 by the Chicago Athenaeum, reminds you of the excitement of the journey and of the city below as seen from a flying airplane. The shades of color chosen also reflect city life, reminding of the grey and anthracite colour of asphalt.Careful stylistic research and constant technological development have always been Lea Ceramiche’s distinguishing features; and once again, at this Coverings trade show, they characterize the new collections offered, thus confirming the company success.

Seeking beauty, far from obviousness. Lea Ceramiche presents Tres Jolie, a new collection that combines fresh colours with charming decors in an extremely light spirit, recalling memories and spontaneous games of the past. Tres Jolie includes four different styles, each of which has a special finishing and matching potential, though all of them share a taste for simplicity whilst being never banal, rather rich in their content and precious in their realization. The lilac Pois decorate bathroom walls: whether large or small, they convey ironic lightness and break up day-to-day routine. The Damier pattern stands out for its sharp light/shade contrast: white rhombi against a black background intertwine like notes on a score. This pattern is also available in a high relief monochromatic version, in either Noir or Blanc. Capitonné, with its relief squares shining like lined silk, reinterprets the past and far-off memories: it represents an old-fashioned though still contemporary style, the capacity of touch to evoke soothed feeling. And lastly, Damas, where everything is split up. The decors are available in two colours, Or and Noir, and two are precisely the worlds that meet up and mirror each other: the East and the West, tradition and modernity, prompting luxury and its multi-faceted traits. Tres Jolie is made in enamelled white-bodied porous grès and is available in the 13,8x27,6" size. The patterns Passpartout (0,8x13,8"), Parisienne (2x13,8") and the strip Parisienne (0,6x13,8") finish up the collection.

Purchase of Lamina production plant: Agreement reached between System Group and Panaria Group Panaria Group has decided to invest in the innovative Lamina technology in the Fiorano production site. In a historical moment like this, in which the market is showing clear signs of slowing down, the strategic choice of Panariagroup clearly indicates a decision and a need to invest in new products such as lamina. The characteristics of this product are such that it differentiates from traditional ceramics. This has been done after a two year partnership between System Group and Panaria Group. For the group founded by Franco Stefani this is yet another confirmation of the advances reached with creation of the Lamina technology, which allows the manufacture of bigger and thinner ceramic tiles that have not yet been seen. This is a material that is definitely innovative and avant-garde: the increase in requests confirms the precision of this product even in the Ceramic industry.

Sele research has led to single-phase electrically-operated lifts which, thanks to a patented “intelligent” system, allow the best possible management of the power available by taking advantage of solar power which is free and clean. In the occasion of the Made Expo, the base of the lift was done with the Slimtech collection of Lea Ceramiche in the colour basaltina naturale. Lea Ceramiche supplied Origano mood 24 (Progetto L14) as plate for the gala dinner of the "international design casa" event, that took place on November 6 within the "Dream" exhibition. Questioning itself on other ways to comprehend, put into practice and develop the design, "International Design Casa" opens a challenge between the culture of the Turin project and Italy and the one of other cities and nations in the world. Some of the most prestigious design-oriented International organisations set up “house” temporarily in the Piedmont capital and open the doors to the public to make themselves known, present the reality of the national design, the current policies for promoting it and future prospective. A slideshow of exhibitions spread out at the centre of the city bringing to Turin a new and simultaneous look on how the culture of the project is expressed in other parts of the world, wandering from the lively European panorama to the fast developing Countries of the Far East. Renowned”New-house neighbours", to which often correspond unusual houses, dwell in Turin and, in the point of view of opening a new prospective and trigger new influences in the Turin urban texture, enrich their own House with events and happenings that can furthermore stimulate and inspire the visitors. Scheduled simultaneously with the international conference on the International Design Policy "Shaping the Global Design Agenda", the initiative shows how the design culture finds expression in other parts of the world. "International Design Casa" is an appointment for deepening comprehension of design both as an instrument of communication of identity and values, and as strategy for drawing new ways of economic development. Moving together and beyond the object, the different experiences of other cities and nations allow Turin to bare the flexibility of the design as an instrument and strategy, but also as an approach to a supportable lifestyle.
